This Mini Quadcopter Drone runs on a 2.4G Frequency and uses a 6-Axis control system. This is a small drone that you can fly in your home, great for kids as you can supervise. On a full charge you can fly your quad for around 6-8 minutes and for a distance or up to 50m. The time is takes to charge the battery is 60 to 80 minutes and 2 x 300mAh Li-Ion batteries with charger are included.
TOYK Drone
This mini quadcopter drone is a beautiful looking drone, it has a bullet shaped body in a shiny blue color with green and silver trim with 4 legs leading to the black propellers and guards. 4 spare propeller blades are included although probably won’t be needed with the guards in place. There is an on/off switch on the drone which is handy so that you don’t have to fiddle with the battery connection until you want to change batteries, just keep it switched off until you are ready to fly.
Remote Control
This quadcopter drone comes with a white remote control which is powered by aa batteries which are not included. It has a power on/off button in the centre, 2 joystick control levers for throttle and direction control. To pair with the drone you switch on the drone, then the remote control, then you just move the left joystick up and down and the lights should stay on then you are ready to fly.
You may want to calibrate your drone first to make sure it is flying true, to do this on this drone you hold both joystick levers down and to the right together, the lights usually flash to show this has worked. You should be ready now to try some aerial manoeuvres.
You have various buttons on the front of the control for trimming if you require it and you have take off and land and an emergency stop button. The buttons on the top left and right are for headless mode, one button return, speed-shift, and flipping.
High speed
You have the choice of 3 speed levels with this TOYK drone and you have a press button take off and land option so if you are just starting and learning the controls this is a great option for getting your drone in the air and a low level speed option can give you more control. Once you get a bit more confident you can up your speed level to suit.
Altitude hold
There is an option for altitude hold which is very helpful when you are learning especially if you are outside and there is a light wind as this will help you hover in place.
Headless mode
There is a headless mode on this TOYK drone which is useful if you lose your orientation with the quad and can’t tell which is the front, you switch this on and the way your remote control is pointing becomes the front of your drone, so flying backwards will bring it back to you. You also have a return button to get back home if you feel you have lost control. Along with the emergency shut off button your drone shouldn’t be able to fly out of control.
4d flip
When you get to understanding the controls you will be ready to try and flip your drone. You have the capability of flipping in all 4 directions, just be aware it will need a little space above it to flip as it will rise in the manoeuvre and it will also drop so don’t be too close to the ground. You’ll soon get the hang of it. Just press the flip button and then the direction joystick to choose which way you want it to go.
Led night lights
The TOYK has some great led lights which show up really well in the dark, this gives you visibility when flying so you can tell which is the front and back with the blue lights at the front and red at the back.
Customer Opinion
Customers are finding this is the perfect gift for kids and it’s small enough to fly in the house so you can play with them. They have found it easy to control with a fair enough fly time for a drone in this price range and it is proving durable when banging into objects.
As this is a new product there is only one negative to do with the battery charger not working, other buyers have found customer service to be good so I’m sure that they would replace it.
Verdict
This TOYK drone doesn’t have a camera, it’s a small sized drone that is ultimately a toy which is great for learning how to fly a drone and at a price point that you don’t mind paying for your kids. These drones are meant for older children and adults and make a great gift for both.
