Dbpower MJX X400W Review
About the Drone
The drone is made of a moulded white plastic. There are blade guards and landing gear provided so that you have a bit of protection for the blades when you have collisions and the landing gear protects the camera from hitting the ground. It’s 11.8 x 11.8 inches and is powered by a 3.7V 750 mAh Li-po battery which gives a flying time of around 8-10 minutes and a flying range of around a 100 meters. The drone is controlled with an easy to use transmitter which shouldn’t take too long to learn. You can buy spare batteries and charger from Amazon.com and give yourself some extra flying time.
The Dbpower MJX X400W quadcopter has a built in wi-fi module which allows it to give live video on your smartphone via the app. You can capture on video what the camera sees from the drone and save it into a folder on your phone or share it with your friends. Once you have learned how to control the quadcopter drone with ease then you can film special occasions from a different angle that everyone will love.
This drone offers headless mode flying, that means you don’t have to know which side of the drone is the front or back. If the drone is ahead of you and you press back on the control lever when headless is switched on it will reverse towards you no matter whether the front is facing you or the side. This is a great option for beginners until they can get their head around the orientation when flying. If you feel you are losing control and just want the drone to return to you there is a one key return button which will bring it back to you automatically.
If you don’t have much experience flying a drone then you can start off on the low speed, there are 2 speeds to choose from. It’s so easy for a drone to fly away from you quickly so keeping the speed down is a useful option until you feel confident, then you can just let it rip and see what you can do. When you start taking videos you might want it slower so that you can see more.
Once you have take off and hovering in the bag you might want to start doing some tricks with the 360 degree flips and rolls. There is one button to press then you just move the direction lever up, down, left or right and it will flip in that direction. Impress your friends with your skill and make it even more spectacular in the dark as the led lights on the bottom of the drone will make it a pleasure to watch.
The lights can be switched off if you don’t want to use them through the day and that might even save some battery power.
FPV is first-person view which is used by having a camera fixed on a drone and the person can view the feed as if they were flying the drone from a birds eye view. This is especially useful when you want to take aerial videos and photographs as you can decide using the FPV view when you get the best spot. Flying using FPV can be done especially with a VR headset but sometimes there is a slight delay in the transmission. This could mean you hitting an object before you see it on the screen. When you have your phone attached to your transmitter you can have the best of both worlds by having access to the FPV but also controlling your drone by sight.
Using a VR Headset
If you have a headset like the VR Headset – Virtual Reality Goggles by VR WEAR you can set the app to 3d view and feel like your in the flying seat of your drone.
A VR headset fits over your head with a screen that you can see very close to your eyes which gives you a 3D view. You just have to insert you smartphone into the headset to be able to start viewing. Because no 2 people are the same there is the option to adjust the viewing so that it fits you eye width and lens adjustments for each eye to give you the best viewing experience. The headset is adjustable so you can wear it comfortably and the front is ventilated so you phone doesn’t overheat and so the screen doesn’t fog up when you’re wearing it. You can also use the headset for playing games or watching 3D movies, there is an earphone jack too.
When flying using the headset you need to be careful as you won’t have as wide a vision as without. You still need to use the transmitter to guide the drone around so having a friend who can fly for you would give you the an amazing experience without the worry of controls.
In this Dbpower MJX X400W Review we hope you get enough information to make a decision whether to buy the Dbpower MJX X400W quadcopter drone. It’s not the cheapest drone but it’s in the medium price range and offers a lot of features for the beginner and more experienced flyer. Being able to fly a drone and video the experience is great fun in itself but you can add to the experience with a VR headset for an ‘in the cockpit’ flight.
